Ex-SAPOL Cop, Prostitute, Drug Dealer Hayley May Greenwood Avoids Jail After Spree of Car, Bike, Shop Theft
Corrupt, drug-dealing ex-police officer, sex worker and wannabe rapper Hayley May Greenwood has avoided jail for another string of offending, claiming motherhood has allowed her to “really start afresh”.
Last week, the Adelaide Magistrates Court suspended Greenwood’s prison term, for dishonesty and theft offences, on condition of a good behaviour bond.
Leesah Randall, for Greenwood, 35, said her client’s “quite chaotic” past life had come to an end with her move to NSW and the birth of her son six months ago.
Greenwood, she said, was “committed” to the baby – and had the backing of her “supportive” parents – meaning she was unlikely to reoffend.

“There have been huge changes in her life since the time when her life really was quite chaotic,” she told Magistrate Justin Wickens.
“The most positive thing, now, is her young child (and) her relocation, which has meant she’s been able to cut ties with negative peers and really start afresh.”
Greenwood’s offending history dates back a decade when, as a serving SA Police officer, she was arrested following an ICAC investigation.
She was subsequently fined for police corruption and jailed for trafficking in meth – offences committed while moonlighting as a brothel prostitute.
She served nine months’ jail, and a further nine months on home detention for that offending.
In November 2024 she faced court accused of multiple dishonesty and illegal use offences – but did not return, resulting in two warrants for her arrest being issued.
In May 2025, Greenwood told the court she “had a lot going on”, including pregnancy, but hoped to resolve her cases.
On Wednesday, Greenwood pleaded guilty to having hired but not returned a car to Hertz, stealing an e-bike and the shoplifting of a Sheridan sheet set from Myer in 2023 and 2024.
Randall said those offences were fueled by Greenwood’s methamphetamine use, homelessness and “volatile, domestically-violent relationship” at the time.
The drug use, she said, stemmed from Greenwood’s earlier corruption offending, which began after a police colleague took their own life and she “self-medicated” with meth.
“All of her offending is reflective of the lifestyle she was living throughout this time,” she said.
In sentencing, Wickens said Greenwood was “a person who knows right from wrong” and, given her past sentence, “should have absolutely discontinued” her drug use upon release.
He suspended her 12-week sentence on condition of a 12-month, $500 bond, and ordered she repay Myer for the sheet set.
A whack job like Greenwood is a shining testament to SAPOL’s recruitment division, which consistently attracts the very worst the human species has to offer – pedophiles, rapists, DV offenders, thugs, and generally corrupt scum. Instead of raising its awfully low standards, SAPOL announced last year it would be lowering its already poor entry requirements even further.
