SAPOL Still Allowing Dishonest Officers to Remain in its Police Force
In January, we reported on internal disciplinary outcomes at SAPOL for corrupt and errant cops between 1 January and 30 September 2025. Despite the serious nature of many of the offences, the officers in question received slap-on-the-wrist ‘discipline’ and most were allowed to keep their jobs.
An inspection of disciplinary outcomes since 1 October 2025 through March 2026 shows little has changed. SAPOL is still protecting the human trash within its ranks and allowing them to continue their employment with minimal and sometimes no real penalty at all.
SAPOL still refuses to terminate employees who exhibit blatant dishonesty.
A probationary constable who improperly accessed SAPOL information using their own and another officer’s credentials was clearly getting his policing career off to a bad start. Rather than being advised to seek another line of work, he was given a $625 fine, and “Recorded Reprimand, Education and Training”.
A dishonest senior constable who made false entries in a document and failed to activate body worn video was given a $600 fine and “Recorded Reprimand”.
A dishonest brevet sergeant who directed a probationary constable to make a false record in relation to a bail curfew check was rewarded with a $250 fine (not even a day’s wages for these overpaid twats) and “Recorded Reprimand”. A brevet sergeant is a SAPOL cop who is awarded temporary sergeant status (and pay) based on their alleged merits and achievements.
A senior constable who “used more force than was necessary in the execution of their duties” (ie committed assault) was suspended without pay for a mere 2 days and “Recorded Reprimand”.
Another unprofessional clown, this time a brevet sergeant, also “used more force than reasonably necessary in the execution of their duties and used inappropriate language and made threats towards a detainee”. This thug was given a $650 fine, and the usual meaningless “Recorded Reprimand, Training and Education”.
The only offence that triggered a termination from the malfeasant SAPOL involved a constable who committed Aggravated Assault on their spouse. This domestic violence offender was gifted a 12-month Good Behaviour Bond by the courts, then had his employment terminated by SAPOL.
An idiot of sergeant rank who drove their vehicle off-duty while under the influence of an unnamed drug was allowed to resign instead of immediately being fired after being found guilty in the courts.
A constable who was arrested and charged for attempting to access child pornography was also rewarded with a mere 6 months’ suspended sentence and an 18 months good behaviour bond. This pedo was also allowed to resign. This offence is listed in the “1 July to 30 September 2025” section of the SAPOL register, but was not visible when we compiled our January article.
The SAPOL register is supposedly a demonstration of the corrupt and transparency-hating SAPOL’s commitment to transparency. Yet SAPOL refuses to divulge the rank of one cop on the register, who is simply listed as an an “officer of police,” meaning an inspector or higher. This winner “sought to obtain a benefit or advantage for themselves or another person, and the officer behaved in a disrespectful manner towards another employee”. Despite being dishonest, corrupt and disrepectful, he was allowed to remain in employ with the only punishment a $800 and “Recorded Reprimand”.
A number of officers were caiught drink-driving, but were not fired, making a mockery of SAPOL’s alleged road safety mission, which anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows is just an excuse for aggressive revenue raising.
Employees in other fields would face instant dismissal for many of the offences committed, but at SAPOL you can be a dishonest asshole yet still continue to get paid handsomely to pretend you care about upholding the law.
