What is SAPOL hiding in the Gus Lamont case? Why is it targeting Gus’s grandmother based on zero evidence?
Last week, on Channel 7’s Spotlight program, one of Gus Lamont’s grandmothers revealed she was SAPOL’s main “suspect” in the young boy’s unsolved disappearance.
Josie Murray talked at length with Channel 7 about the allegations and the toll they had taken on her. The full Spotlight segment can be viewed at the bottom of this article.
To clarify, Josie is the former partner of Shannon Murray, also a grandmother of Gus. Born a biological male, Josie underwent a gender transition in the early 1990s. Before doing so, Shannon gave birth to their daughter Jess Murray.
Jess would later partner with Joshua Lamont and have two children: Gus and Ronnie.
Josie and Shannon are no longer married but remain close friends and run the Oak Park Station together.
The family all live on the remote station, about 40 kilometres south of Yunta. In straight line distance, the tiny town of Yunta sits around 275 km north-east of South Australia’s capital city, Adelaide.
Gus was last seen at 5pm Saturday, September 27, 2025. He had been playing near the site of a cellar under construction at the station, but a search of the site found no trace of him. Josie and Jess then searched all the buildings on the station, without success.
Gus was known as an “adventurer” and loved walking around the station.
So with 45 minutes of daylight remaining, they then mounted trail bikes and searched within a 1 km radius of the homestead, searching around tanks, dams and other structures on the property.
At around 8pm, the family decided to call police and report Gus missing.
The first police officer on scene was identified as “Luke”, who arrived from a nearby town.
Channel 7 reports that a second officer was on his way, and Josie and Luke waited “for some time” on a hill looking out for this officer’s flashing lights. This second officer claimed to be unable to find the property, so while they waited, Josie gave him directions.
Strangely, the officer “just gave up” and returned to Orroroo, a 245 km round trip.
This was the first of many curious behaviours by the notoriously corrupt, dishonest and sleazy South Australia Police in the Gus Lamont case.
Luke and Jess again searched the property, covering much of the ground the family had already traversed during their daylight search.
Josie said that later that night, her and Shannon went out in a buggy and searched the surrounding roads. They made a point of travelling slowly and “very carefully” because if Gus had left the property, his past walkabout behaviour suggested he would have walked along the roadside. If this was the case and he wandered onto the road in front of an oncoming vehicle in the dark, he could easily be run over.
The following day, State Emergency Services, police and volunteers begun a ground search for Gus, which continued for several days and covered around 60,000 hectares.
This was the first of a number of searches, from which widely-hated SAPOL commissioner Grant Stevens – recently the recipient of a resounding and historic no-confidence vote from SA police delegates – and Major Crime officer in charge Darren Fielke claimed there was “nothing to suggest foul play”, “no evidence, physical or otherwise, to suggest that Gus has merely wandered off” and “no evidence to suggest that Gus was abducted from the property”.
Josie insists otherwise.
The following day, in the hours before police arrived, Josie says she noticed evidence of of someone else being on the property.
“I remember looking out the window cuz it was starting to get light by that stage.
And there was a bedstead there that we’d set up to put stone on to wash. And that bedstead had been moved, not quite 180°, but certainly a quite a substantial amount from when I last saw it. And I thought, ‘What the hell’s happened there?’
And it was reasonably heavy. A child would not be able to shift it. And this bedstead had been moved. And I also saw what we called the weather station had been moved. I’m not sure when that happened, but it it was there appeared to be something had happened there.”
And I then walked up past where the bedstead was and thought, well, I better not move it ’cause this could be this could be an indication of something.
Then I saw wheel tracks going down past where the bedstead was and past where the weather station was. An these wheel tracks were small tire, medium size car, and not much tread on them. Not a off-road type tread.
It was definitely a passenger type and I thought that’s strange too. And I started to think almost immediately, I wonder if someone’s come in.
And all the time I was thinking, you know, there’s a chance that he’s been taken by someone.”
Josie was shocked when hordes of police vehicles arrived and randomly drove onto the property.
“I was frankly horrified at the number of vehicles that were parked around our house ’cause we hadn’t actually seen them come in.
My immediate thought was, my God, they destroyed any chance of tracking him.
Um, if he’d walked out on the road or anything because the road was already pounded up and starting to get dusty and they’d made a mess.”
Then there was an incident involving a footprint that Josie spotted in one of the dams. The family retrieved one of Gus’s boots, placed it next to the footprint and photographed it.
“It’s got to be him. It’s got to be him ’cause it’s the right size”, Josie kept saying.
The geniuses at SAPOL kept insisting, no, it was a police diver’s footprint.
SAPOL must be employing some very dimunitive divers, because the adult equivalent would be less than a womans’ size 4 footprint.
A superintendent then said SAPOL had made “a mistake”.

Another curious ‘mistake’ by SAPOL was that they did not get an aboriginal tracker to the scene until days after Gus went missing. Aboriginal trackers have an amazing knowledge of the outback and can read the land like an open book. Getting a tracker on the case should have been an utmost priority, but SAPOL dragged their feet in doing so.
SAPOL has no evidence, no charges and no clue, but declares a major crime and announces a ‘suspect’
On 5 February 2026, the brains trust at SAPOL held a press conference and declared the Gus Lamont disappearance a major crime.
Star of the press conference was old mate Fielke, who while declaring a major crime and announcing a suspect, failed to announce any charges, arrests or anything that remotely looked like incriminating evidence.
Interestingly, he said one of the theories SAPOL had been considering was that Gus had been killed as a result of an accident.
Which makes us wonder why the second unnamed officer to head to the Oak Park Station on 27 September 2025 mysteriously decided to turn around and drive the 122km back to Orroroo.
At the press conference, Fielke said they now had a suspect.
“A person who resides at Oak Park Station has withdrawn their support for the police and is no longer cooperating with us,” said Fielke.
“The person who has withdrawn their co-operation is now considered a suspect in the disappearance of Gus.”
It’s no secret that SAPOL can be totally incompetent, dishonest and obstinate arseholes whose behaviour often inspires disgust and frustration instead of cooperation.
It is also no secret now that Josie was appalled by SAPOL’s handling of the case. As Channel 7 put it, Josie “doesn’t have a lot of time for South Australia police.”
Neither do we. That doesn’t make us criminals.
SAPOL, in contrast, has a documented track record of employing thugs, drug dealers, sex predators and protecting pedophiles. Its officers routinely engage in dishonest behaviour, which includes improperly accessing people’s information on their databases and covering up their own corrupt and malfeasant behaviour by constructing false reports and statements.
But instead of questioning SAPOL’s strange behaviour regarding the Gus Lamont case, many clueless members of the public jumped to the conclusion that the family were involved.
During the Channel 7 Spotlight segment, Josie revealed that, despite a total lack of evidence, police had targeted her as the main suspect in Gus’s disappearance.
To seasoned observers of SAPOL’s Machiavellian behavior, this looks much more like vindictiveness than an investigative breakthrough.
Highly respected veterinarian Bill Harbison, brother of former Adelaide Lord Mayor Michael Harbison, has known Josie for 60 years. He has observed the close bond she had with grandson Gus and believes she is innocent.
When Channel 7 asked him why he believes SAPOL has targeted Josie, he replied, “To me, they just seem to have tunnel vision, and it’s getting to the point of almost being vindictive now.”
“…as everybody knows, Josie is a transgender. I challenged the police about this, you know, that they were targeting her because of her transgender situation and they were mortally offended that I should say it.”
As Channel 7 reports:
“So when police declared this a major crime, the family stopped speaking to them. They both (Josie and Shannon) hired high-profile lawyers and haven’t spoken to them directly since.
They haven’t been happy with how the search was handled in the first place.
And and now they’re being targeted as possible killers.”
When asked if police had told her she was a main suspect in the case of Gus’s disappearance, Josie replied:
“They have said that they don’t think I hurt him. They think that I buried him.
That’s one of the theories they’re working on … it’s ludicrous.”
So SAPOL’s brilliant working hypothesis is that Gus had a fatal accident and that instead of notifying authorities upon discovering his body, Josie decided to just dig a hole and bury him.
So why haven’t SAPOL gone to this makeshift grave site and retrieved Gus’s body?
Because despite several large searches, the tools at SAPOL have never located such a grave site.
These are the same morons, we remind you, that chew up $1.3 BILLION of taxpayer money every year.
As Josie told Channel 7, “when it’s so dry and dusty like that, there’s no way you can bury something without leaving evidence that the ground has been disturbed.
And the amount of searching that went on ,aerial, with a helicopter, with the fixed wing, with the drones, with everything, you would see signs of someone being buried.”
The clowns at SAPOL have ruled out abduction on the basis that the property is “so remote”.
“The one that is so laughable,” says Josie, “is the one that the head of the major lot (that would be brainiac Superintendent Fielke) said that there was only four-wheel drive access to Oak Park. So, there was no chance of abduction.”
The 4WD-only access claim is a lie, and SAPOL knows it. Below is a picture the Daily Mail published of SAPOL vehicles at the Oak Park Station. One is a Mercedes Sprinter van, available in AWD and 2WD but not 4WD (off-road).

As Josie points out, “that’s absurd because the Hilux they’ve taken down there to do tests on is a two wheel drive. Shan’s got a two wheel drive. Jess has got a two wheel drive. The buggies are two wheel drive. I mean, it’s laughable.”

“There’s just been so much of this just falseness over all this and mistakes that have been made,” said Josie.
“…to be accused of doing something like this is just you could not wish a more horrible experience on anyone.”
Given the lack of evidence to implicate Josie, the focus should be shifted towards SAPOL and its suspicious behaviour in this case.
SAPOL inexplicably delayed the deployment of an aboriginal tracker.
SAPOL lied about vehicle access to the Oak Park Station.
It claims the property is too remote to be the site of an abduction, even though it accessible from Yunta, a highway town that serves as a stop-over for tourists, truck drivers and contractors.
The role of the second police officer who was headed to the station but strangely “gave up” despite being in the vicinity and returned to Orroroo, some 122 kms away, demands close scrutiny. What does the GPS information for his vehicle reveal about his movements that evening?
SAPOL has a track record of frustrating and aborting investigations into pedophile suspects, especially those implicating wealthy and influential people. Here are but a few examples:
One of South Australia’s Most Senior Cops Shut Down Promising Pedophile Investigation
SAPOL Covered Up for Pedophile Senior Officer
Four-Month Old Girl Given Meth and Molested by Relative – SAPOL and DCP Cover It Up
We have it on good authority by SAPOL insiders that to reach a high ranking within South Australia Police, one must belong to Freemasonry, the weird worldwide secret society masquerading as a wholesome community organisation, whose “obligations” include not revealing any secrets of Freemasonry to non-members and helping fellow Masons in times of need.
It should be of great concern to the public that high-ranking police owe their primary allegiance, not to the public that pays their wages, but to cults like Freemasonry and Universal Medicine (which the NSW Supreme court declared a “dangerous cult” run by charlatan and sex predator Serge Benhayon, and which counts SAPOL detective Eric Walsh among its members).
So the questions that demand answers are:
What does SAPOL really know about the Gus Lamont disappearance?
Why is it trying to pin the blame on Gus’s grandmother using the flimsiest evidence (ie a lack of cooperation with the clearly incompetent police)?
Channel 7 asked South Australia police for an interview in relation to Josie’s allegations. They refused to appear on the program, instead telling Channel 7:
“Sadly, despite eleven individual large-scale searches of Oak Park Station, no evidence relating to Gus Lamont’s disappearance has been located. Task Force Horizon has and will continue to investigate any and all information, including information provided by Gus’s family that could assist in identifying what has happened to Gus. As the investigation is ongoing, it is not appropriate for SA police to discuss specific aspects of the investigation that could compromise any potential future court proceedings.”
After the Spotlight segment aired, SAPOL lashed out like the petty brats they are.
“I think the claim is nonsense,” Deputy Police commissioner Linda Williams said.
“When we conduct any investigation, we always do it impartially, and I am very proud of the professionalism shown by our officers.”
She declined to comment on any ongoing matters of the investigation but added that she watched the broadcast with interest.
A couple of things must be pointed out about Linda Williams. She is a grossly overpaid incompetent who, just like fellow SAPOL fat cat Grant Stevens, was recently the subject of a resounding no-confidence motion by police union delegates representing rank-and-file officers.
She is also a brazen liar. She knows very well her claim that SAPOL investigations are “always” conducted “impartially” is 100% false.
Remember Brian Stanton, Linda?
He’s the guy who told you bastards about the antics of a syndicate of drug dealers and thieves in the Goolwa-Victor Harbour area.
He thought he was being a good Samaritan, but he didn’t realize he was informing on SAPOL-protected criminals!
You vile scumbags then set about doing what you love doing to people who threaten your corruption and revenue-raising rackets. You made his life hell. Your filthy corrupt officers planted a firearm in his car and arrested him for illegal possession of said weapon. This was followed by a four-year ordeal in which he was finally acquitted.
Because, as you rotten bastards know, when someone is innocent the process is the punishment.
When Channel 7 ran a two-part expose on Stanton’s story, and the suspicious behaviour of SAPOL cops that Seven captured firsthand, Stevens’ response was to attack Channel 7.
Here is the 2-part expose that the rotten SAPOL did not want the public to see.
Tell us all again how you SAPOL cretins are always impartial, Linda?
It must further be noted that Josie Murray is not the first relative of a recently deceased person to be treated like shit by the malevolent arseholes at SAPOL. Observe the way in which SAPOL goons behaved towards the late Coen Fraser and his family.
Coen was the truck driver who died in 2019 just days before his 27th birthday, after being forced to swerve to avoid a collision in low-visibility conditions. He was hailed as a hero for both sacrificing his own life to avoid colliding with a car in his path and attempting to alert other drivers to the hazard. Another truck driver, Brendan Giles, 64, was also killed in the horrific crash.
SAPOL and Stevens, however, promptly set about both blaming Coen and Giles and harassing Coen’s family.
Stevens said during a press conference that while the dust storm could be a ‘contributing’ factor (it was THE factor), dangerous driving or distraction on the part of the truck drivers was to blame.
Not satisfied with publicly defaming the innocent and deceased men, immediately after the accident SAPOL goons raided the transport company where Coen’s mother and uncle worked. Coen did not work at the business and therefore the company was not in any way involved with the accident. Despite being informed of this, SAPOL proceeded to treat the grieving family members like criminals.
After receiving the heart-breaking news of Coen’s death, SAPOL kept the family members hostage and would not let them leave to attend the accident scene.
Despite being in the wrong, a police spokeswoman told the Advertiser that Stevens stood by his comments even though “the investigation into the circumstances was continuing.”
The repulsive behavior of Stevens and SAPOL drew a heated response from Steve Shearer, Executive Director of the South Australian Road Transport Association.
“The Commissioner would or should have known that Coen was crawling along at 45km/h, when he came across that vehicle,” a livid Shearer said. “When he came across that vehicle, he immediately alerted the drivers behind him and made an instantaneous decision to go around that vehicle, not knowing what was coming.”
“It is not acceptable,” said Shearer. “It was neither necessary, nor reasonable. It’s unconscionable and we are extremely angry. They would not let those individuals leave the premises and go to the scene. They (SAPOL) would not answer their questions about what happened.”
SAPOL are cunts. Never trust cunts.
Rather than harass Josie Murray, it is the corrupt and pedophile-friendly SAPOL that should be forced to explain its behaviour and what it really knows about the Grant Lamont disappearance.
